Abstract

The re-appearance of the monkeypox virus has become a global concern, especially for the World Health Organisation (WHO), which is responsible for promoting health, keeping the world safe, and serving the vulnerable. This necessitated the need for the Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PHEOC), with support from the WHO office, to investigate the cumulative incidence of Monkeypox in Plateau State, the route of transmission and enabling factors in the state. The research will apply surveillance data gathered from the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the 17 LGAs with reported cases. Statistical analysis will be done using SPSS version 23.0. The findings revealed that oonly 16 cases were reported in the LGAs: Jos-North, Jos-South, Bassa, Shendam, Mangu and Pankshin. The source of the disease transmission was the use of second-hand clothes and people moving from one area to another. Thus, appropriate recommendations were proffered.
